Michael Kelly

Michael Kelly, serving his third year on the Township Committee, is a retired journalist who spent most of his professional career Michael Kelly 150pxas editor and publisher of the Independent Press which covers Chatham Township and six adjacent towns. Prior to his election to the Township Committee, he was a member of the Chatham Township Environmental commission and previously had held leadership positions in a number of community organizations, including: President of the Summit-New Providence Rotary Club, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Summit-New Providence-Berkeley Heights, President of the Parish Council of St. Teresa of Avila Church in Summit, President of the Summit Herald Camp Fund and Co-president of First Night Summit. He is now an active member of Corpus Christi Parish.

He was born and raised in Chatham Township, graduated from The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, and returned to the township with his wife Maureen in 2011 after raising their three children in nearby Summit. Together they have six young grandchildren.
