Compost Center Announcement
Beginning on Saturday April 25th the Compost Center will open from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The Compost Center will then only be open on Saturdays until further notice. To combat COVID-19 new procedures have been developed for the Compost Center. The DPW will have two men working at the Compost Center on April 25th. One man will be inside the site checking loads and making sure residents keep there social distancing. The other man will be at the entrance gate to the Compost Center. He will be checking ID's. Please keep your windows up (closed) at all times and wear a mask. Kindly put your license or other proof of residency against the window of your vehicle so the DPW staff can verify residency.
Inside the Compost Center, areas will be marked out for social distancing showing where residents can drop off there material. The DPW will limit the amount of cars entering into the site for safety. The DPW staff will not be handing out permits at the Compost Center.
To request a permit please call 973-377-5114. Permits can be mailed or picked up at the DPW mailbox after showing proof of ID that can be verified through a glass door near the mail box. The DPW office address is 405 Southern Boulevard. Or, permit pick up can be arranged at the Municipal Building drop box. Residents are encouraged to pick up permits during the week to save time. It will also reduce line times on Saturdays.
This is a completely new procedure for the Compost Center and we ask residents to be patient with this new process. With patience and by working together we will be able to bring more services back on line. Thank you for your help in keeping all our Chatham residents and friends safe.
